| Mt. Katherine (also written
as Mt. Katherina or Jebel Katrina) is the highest
peak in Egypt, and a popular trekking destination.
People who climb in the area should be aware that
it can get extremly cold on the summit in winter.
Good hiking boots, warm clothes and sleeping bag
are essential for trekking. The climb is not difficult
but long and steep, suitable for any fit hiker.
For those who want to engage in more serious rock
climbing and trekking, there are other suitable
mountains and routes. Sinai is the best mountaineering
area in Egypt, but climbers have to have their own
mountaineering equipment. More easy-going trekking
and hiking activities do not require special mountaineering
gear. |
